Usage Notes
- Buffers are considered one of the most dangerous tools in the shop, in part because people underestimate them.
- Buffing wheels grab the workpiece hard and suddenly! Grip your workpiece at all times like someone strong was trying to tug it away from you. Beginners are surprised, pull is always harder than anticipated even after being warned. Do not underestimate the pulling force.
- Roll up sleeves, do not wear gloves, remove necklaces, remove loose clothing and anything with a drawstring.
- Eye protection mandatory.
- One wheel has an aggressive polishing compound, the other has a softer finishing compound.
- Buffers are not an alternative to sanding. When buffed, rough surfaces will be shiny but still rough.
