This template creates a hatnote, to be used below a page title (i.e., at the very top of the page) or below a section heading. It takes one parameter, which is the text you want to include in the hatnote.

This is useful for disambiguation, linking to main articles on topics covered briefly at the present location, "see also" links from specific sections (because those relevant to the whole page can go in a "see also" section), etc.

This is an example of what a hatnote looks like. It can contain links, though they should generally be unpiped and unredirected (except for ID number redirects).
