This is our current set up. It is not written stone, if you change (or improve!) something please document it so we know how use it for member meetings, hybrid classes or other things.

Set up

On the office computer go to:

  1. Go to meet.google.com and start a new meeting. Make sure you are logged in with archive@protospace.ca to get access to any Protospace account privileges
  2. Ensure correct audio set up
    1. Select 'More options' -> 'Settings' -> 'Audio'
    2. Speaker should be set to - VSX-822 (these are the classroom stereo speakers)
    3. Microphone should be set to - Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio) which is via the Polycom Soundpoint PC
  3. Copy the meeting URL and post it wherever your need it (e.g. the monthly meeting thread on the forum)

Hardware

Microphone

Currently using a Polycom Soundpoint PC 3.5 mm TRS connector routed through the floor to the classroom PC. It is located on the desk.

Polycom SoundPoint PC

If it is not on the desk, someone moved it and that sucks. Please don't move it.

Troubleshooting

Participants cannot hear the room

Go to options on the call and start picking other microphones.

You might have to open sound settings and confirm microphones work at all. If no microphones pick up at all, that means there's a physical problem with a mic.

The room can not hear participants

Confirm the speakers work as expected and are selected as output device for the call.
